Overview
Lung involvement is one of the most important aspects of systemic sclerosis care. In this session, Dr. Wong will explain current screening recommendations for interstitial lung disease (ILD), highlight recent clinical trial findings, and discuss general treatment approaches used in B.C.
Presenter
Dr. Alyson Wong is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of British Columbia (UBC). She is a Respirologist at St. Paul’s Hospital and works in the Interstitial Lung Disease Clinic (ILD) and Systemic Sclerosis ILD Clinic.
Her research focuses on health outcomes research, with a particular interest in integrating health economics and clinical research to provide cost-effective and patient-centred ILD care.
People with Scleroderma, family members, supporters, and caregivers are ALL welcome to attend!

Scleroderma affects everyone differently, and staying informed is one of the best ways to feel confident, supported, and prepared. The Scleroderma Association of B.C. (SABC) hosts free educational webinars throughout the year to help people living with the disease — and their loved ones — access trusted, up-to-date information from experienced clinicians, researchers, and community educators.

- Evidence-based — led by specialists who work directly with scleroderma patients
- Practical — offering tips, tools, and knowledge you can use in daily life
- Supportive — with time for questions and community connection
Whether you’re newly diagnosed or have lived with scleroderma for years, these sessions provide clarity, guidance, and a sense of community.
What to Expect When You Attend
- A 30–40 minute presentation by a scleroderma specialist or allied health professional
- 10–20 minutes of Q&A, where attendees can submit questions
- A Zoom link delivered by email after registration
- Access to the recorded session afterward (when available)
- Topics that reflect both medical knowledge and practical daily living needs
Most webinars are suitable for:
- Individuals with systemic sclerosis or localized scleroderma
- People experiencing early symptoms such as Raynaud’s
- Family members and caregivers
- Health providers wanting to learn more about the patient experience
